Atlantic Anniversary Race Crew Update #19
Besuch an Bord
Immer noch wenig Wind und Schleichfahrt.
Mit Kurs auf die Isle of Wight (englisches Segel-Mekka und strömungstechnisch schlau, da wir Hauptströmungen gegenan aus dem Wege gehen wollen) machen wir wenigstens Fahrt.
Die Nacht war schön, sehr schön, geradezu romantisch – besonders wegen des Mondes, der für „Decksbeleuchtung“ sorgte, wie von jedem Crewmitglied mindestens 10x geäußert!
0920h und der Grund, warum man sich niemals „gehen“ lassen sollte auf See was Aufräumen und Hygiene angeht – Damenbesuch!!! OK, es war auch ein Herr mit an Bord. Die UK Border Police geht längsseits und überprüft unsere Herkunft (Reisepässe), Port of Departure, Port of Destination, ein kurzer Rundgang im Schiff. Sehr freundlich und nach 15 Minuten ist die Sache vorbei. Der Grund der Aufmerksamkeit mag eventuell sein, dass unser AIS Name und -Signal (Pata Negra) nicht zum Namen HH Linesmen auf unserem Rumpf passt – das ist aber schnell erklärt.
Sonst geht es uns gut, sehr gut – the fight goes on! Hoffnung steht auf eine Ankunft in Hamburg am Freitag oder Samstag.

Nothing new here – still almost no wind as we make our way east with around 2.5kts.
Heading for the Isle of Wight (sailing-Mecca and also lets us dodge potential dangerous currents coming from ahead) we at least get the boat moving a bit.
The night was magically beautiful with clear skies and the moon providing us with handy deck-lighting (as mentioned by every crew member at least 10 times).
0920am and the reason why you should never neglect hygiene and cleaning duties on board – female attention! Fine, she was accompanied by a man, but nonetheless. The UK Border Police pulls up alongside to check our documents, where we come from, where we are going and so on. Might have something to do with our boat being listed as ‚Pata Negra‘ in AIS while sporting the name ‚Hamburg Linesmen‘ on the back of the hull. Doesn’t prove an issue and after 15 minutes of smalltalk and a quick walk through the cabin they are off again, leaving us to deal with the lull winds by ourselves again.
Other than the low winds we’re doing splendid and are looking forward to seeing a lot of you in Hamburg (once we get there, hopefully on Friday / Saturday).
